INTRODUCTION:
The Sales Apprenticeship is run by Cork College of FET in collaboration with Mayo Sligo Leitrim ETB (MSLETB).
The role of a sales specialist involves working in a sales environment in either business to business (B2B) or business to consumer (B2C) sales. As a sales specialist, you will be involved in the full sales cycle from planning sales activities to closing the sale. You will lead the sales interaction with new customers and build and enhance relationships with existing customers. You will have in depth knowledge of the product you’re selling and become an expert at analysing customer needs and creating solutions to these needs.
WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?
When you finish your sales apprenticeship you will be able to:
- Lead a confident, clear and compelling sales pitch.
- Generate new business, identifying opportunities and leading on developing a sales strategy.
- Collate, analyse and interpret market research and disseminate it appropriately and effectively within the organisation.
- Identify innovative solutions integrating products and excellent service solutions, to meet customer needs.
- Use different approaches to social selling & digital technologies to aid the sales process.
- Apply principles of negotiation to a sales process to achieve a mutually agreeable outcome, ensuring both customer and supplier satisfaction.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- Candidates for the Sales apprenticeship have reached 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Grade O6/H7 or above in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects (including Maths F2/O6/H7 along with English or Irish O6/H7) or a full QQI Level 5 or higher qualification.
- International Application must present the equivalent of a full QQI Level 5 qualification or higher.
- Apprentices for whom English is not their first language must demonstrate proficiency in English and hold a minim of B1 CEFR or recognised equivalent.
- Mature applicants aged 21 year and over with out a Level 5 qualification will also be considered following an interview and submission of supporting documentation.
HOW DO I BECOME AN APPRENTICE?
To become an apprentice you must first be hired by an employer. Your employer must be approved by SOLAS. As an apprentice you have a formal contract of employment. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be a fully qualified salesperson. You may progress onto further education within a Technological University or University. Many apprentices go on to open their own business.
