INTRODUCTION:

Our popular Bus Driving course runs several times a year. This short programme will give the learner the knowledge and skills to drive an bus safely and efficiently. Successful learners will achieve their CPC D licence.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • Rules of the Road:
    Master the regulations and guidelines for safe driving.
  • Driving LPSVs:
    Gain hands-on experience driving large public service vehicles.
  • Customer Service:
    Learn to provide excellent service to passengers.
  • Documentation:
    Understand the necessary paperwork and digital tachograph usage.
  • First Aid & Safety:
    Receive training in occupational first aid, manual handling, and fire safety.
  • Technical Standards:
    Familiarize yourself with the technical standards for LPSVs.
  • Career Skills:
    Develop job-seeking skills and personal effectiveness to boost your employability.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants must hold a full current class B Driving license before applying for this course.

All applicants must hold a current Provisional D license before applying for this course.

CERFL proficiency at B2 for those whose first language is not English.

Those from outside the EEA or Common Travel Area must provide evidence of Stamp Four status to undertake this course.

How much does the course cost?
There are no course fees for the course.

What hours are involved?
This is a short full time course, which usually runs for ten weeks. The course times are 8.30am – 3.45pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am – 12.45pm on Friday.

What funding is available?
If you are in receipt of social welfare payment, you may be entitled to a training allowance for the programme duration.

How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through a mixture of practical demonstration and written assessment.

Is there work experience?
No, there is no work experience on this short programme.

Career opportunities?
Successful graduates of the programme will gain their Bus Driving (Category D) Licence.
