Nearly Zero Energy Building

INTRODUCTION:

Since 1st November 2019 all domestic and non-domestic buildings must be built to the NZEB standard. Nearly Zero – Energy Buildings’ means a building that has a very high energy performance, Annex 1 of the Directive and in which “the nearly zero or very low amount of energy required should be covered to a very significant extent by energy from renewable sources, including energy from renewable sources produced on-site or nearby”. This one day course is an introduction to the principles NZEB.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • NZEB PRINCIPLES:
    Basic understanding of NZEB Principles.

  • BUILDING PHYSICS:
    Basic understanding of Building Physics.

  • BUILDING FABRIC:
    Basic understanding of Building Fabric – Continuous Insulation, Thermal Bridging, Air Permeability, Windows and Doors.

  • BUILDING SERVICES:
    Basic understanding of Building Services – Space heating and Domestic Hot Water, Controlled Ventilation, Lighting, ICT and Smart Technology.

  • RENEWABLE ENERGY, PHOTO-VOLTAICS, SMART METERING AND ELECTRIC:
    Basic understanding of Renewable Energy, Photo-Voltaics, Smart Metering and Electric Vehicles.

  • COMMUNICATION AND USER INFORMATION:
    Understand the required knowledge for Communication and Best Practice User Information.

COURSE DELIVERY:

This course is delivered on site in Cork College of FET, Bishopstown Campus.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants apply online on www.fetchcourses.ie 

CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to courses for those whose first language is not English.

Those from outside the EEA or Common Travel Area must provide evidence of Stamp Four status to undertake this course.

This course is fully funded for those in employment, under Skills to Advance.
